Don't Let Nightmare Neighbors Sabotage Your Home Sale

Sell Home with Nuisance Neighbors

You've de-cluttered, cleaned, painted, upgraded, and landscaped. Everything's perfect… except your nasty neighbors might ruin everything. What do you do when you're ready to add your home to the listings of Las Vegas homes for sale but you're afraid your neighbors will scare buyers away?

Our real estate agents realize that nasty neighbors aren't just an inconvenience. When you're trying to market your home, they can cost you money. Still, there are a few solutions to dealing with bad neighbors when selling your home.

First, identify the problem

If your neighbors have been driving you crazy the whole time you've owned your home, you might feel like everything is a problem. You'll never resolve the issue if you don't narrow it down.

  • Noise
Your neighbor's constant, late-night music and screaming children might sabotage your home sale.

  • Junk in the yard
Not only do your neighbors have trash all over the yard, they have ten dented trash cans, a rusty metal storage shed, a car on cinder blocks… you get the idea.

  • Just plain mean
You've put up with your neighbor's mean-spirited attitude because you only see him on weekends. That wouldn't be a problem except open houses are only on weekends.

  • Vicious dog
Your neighbor's dog always barks at you, bares his teeth and tries to jump the fence. Your neighbor thinks he's just being friendly.

What's The Solution?

Your nasty neighbors might be there long after you move away. You'll have to do something right now before their actions have a negative impact on your home sale. Fortunately, there are a few solutions that might work.

  • Solution #1: Ask nicely
It's a longshot, but your nasty neighbors might respond positively if you knock on their door and nicely explain your dilemma.

  • Solution #2: Report any code violations
Most cities have codes that require owners to control their pets and maintain their home to a certain standard. Perhaps it's time to report them to city officials.

  • Solution #3: Offer to help
If asking nicely doesn't work, you could offer to do some of the the work yourself or pay someone else to do it. Your neighbor might welcome your assistance.
